Dear brothers in the Lord – Alumni of the Pontifical North American College,
In these last days of 2019 and the first day of 2020, I have been finishing up my preparations for the “Ad Limina” visit to the Holy Father and the Holy See the last week of this month, thinking of my years as the “Casa” in Rome as a newly ordained priest. In addition, reflecting on the dedication of Christ Cathedral this past July 17th, we were blessed that so many NAC alumni were able to be present. Finally, on an important personal note, I have been able to visit via phone several times these last months with Bruna Valigi and her family. Bruna is the widow of Angelo Valigi, who many from my years at the “Casa Santa Maria” (1981–1985), and before and after that time, will remember as the Sacristan who had a great love of Saint Francis, nature and all of us student priests in those years. A number of us were welcome guests at the Valigi home in those years.
Those memories, which in faith bring to the present moment the opportunities and blessings of being able to study and live as seminarians and priests in the Eternal City, to be shared at the annual 131st Alumni Reunion of the Pontifical North American College, which will be held here in the Diocese of Orange from June 16-18, 2020 (Tuesday through Thursday). I am excited to let you know that the June 17th meeting will be held on the campus of Christ Cathedral with a tour of the Cathedral and Mass in the Cathedral at 5:30 p.m. Hotel accommodations will be conveniently located at the nearby Double Tree Hotel by Hilton which is only three blocks away. The “Bum Run” will include a visit and tour of the Mission Basilica of San Juan Capistrano. The business meeting and the Theological Lecture (given by Rev. William B. Goldin, STD, CSM 2017, (Diocese of Orange), will be held in the “Cultural Center” on Christ Cathedral Campus.
We are all looking forward to welcoming you here on campus for these days of renewal of our faith and commitment to our mission as priests of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which was formed in a significant way by our time together in study and prayer in the Eternal City.
I would ask that make your reservation as soon as possible by filling out the registration form on this site.
A very blessed New Year to all of you! “Ad Multos Annos.”
Fraternally yours in the Lord,
Most Rev. Kevin W. Vann, J.C.D., D.D.
